A New Jersey man who killed three people over two days in 2016 was sentenced to 190 years in prison Tuesday after the sentencing judge proclaimed the case “the most depraved, heinous and cruel” he’d ever presided over.
A press release from Essex County prosecutors confirms Jeffrey Holland, 30, was sentenced for the brutal murders of his girlfriend, Tiniquah Rouse, 21, his ex-girlfriend, 23-year-old Ashley Jones, and her new boyfriend, Jarrell Marshall, 28.
Holland strangled and drowned Rouse on Jan. 29, 2016 inside her Newark apartment, and then placed her newborn son in a closet, covering him with clothing before fleeing the scene.
The next day, prosecutors say Holland went to Jones’ apartment, forcing the door open and shooting both her and Marshall as three children — 1, 3, and 4 — watched in horror.
According to authorities, Holland and Jones were the parents of two of those children.

Holland must serve at least 158 years of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
“If you happen to survive, you will be then subject to 5 years of parole supervision,” Judge Ronald Wigler told Holland during Tuesday’s sentencing.
“The sheer depravity and violence that occurred in this case is incomprehensible,” offered Assistant Prosecutor Justin Edwab, who tried the case. “This defendant brutally killed three innocent people and in the case of Rouse desecrated her body. His crimes are even more cruel because they were carried out in the presence of very young children, including two of his own children.”
Efforts to reach Holland’s attorneys were unsuccessful Thursday.
