Lauren teased her new hair transformation on Instagram just hours before the big reveal, but didn’t share details until she hit the red carpet.
“About two weeks ago I went a little darker, and my goal with my hair dresser is to let my natural hair keep growing out. That way it’s not that much time in the [salon] chair, [and I have] a little healthier hair, which is kinda the thing right now,” she told PEOPLE exclusively on the red carpet.
She also noted that her hair’s new ashy brown hue is similar to her natural color, despite hersporting blonde hair for years.
Her darker hair is definitely a hit with Chris, 39, who gushed, “I actually really like this color. I think it looks great.” And thankfully her little ones, sonsBaker West, 1, andDutton Walker, 2, are slowly adjusting to their mom’s change in appearance. “They recognize me with my hair drastically changing,” Lauren said.
The kids did, however, have a more shocking reaction to her bold gown. “They barely recognized me when I put on this dress. I came out and Dutton looked at me, and you can tell he was taken aback, and he started laughing. He does not see me dressed up very often.”
