Star Wars Rebels ’ third season isbuilding towardsa do - or - die standoff between Darth Maul and the opponent he ’s been hunt down for virtually two decades : old Ben Kenobi . Sadly , the story has to keep Maul and Ben ’s fight back relatively short , but ensure the old Ben fling himself around like he does in the prequel movies is adequate parts screaming and awesome . And little Luke got to watch !
For all the severity of this new Maul design , the jumbo robot legs and the big bone horn , it ’s Ben who is the badass . From his sandlike reveal , to punching some of those horns off , to fulfilling his hope as he literally disarms Maul :
As in effect as Ben is , though , when he last has Maul on the R-2 , he ca n’t impart himself to perform the death shock . “ Old Wounds ” could give us some insight into how Rebels will show us the duel between old Ben and Maul , but even it does n’t , one element of the comedian has eventually made its means into canyon — McBride ’s design for the born-again Maul is what inspiredthe character ’s first re - appearance in Clone Warsin 2012 . So even if Rebels is giving us a definitive translation of the rematch , part of McBride ’s tale will hold up on in canyon forever and a day .
