The units we get to play with were both fully act upon — one of which was hooked up to a Mac and the other was running in demonstration mode . Here ’s what we consider :
• Each key ’s display is very shining and very crisp .
• The keys are n’t too clacky and are n’t too soft . A good and felicitous medium between the old behind IBM clackers and the scissor - style laptop computer keys .
• Unless you lave your hands regularly ( which apparently trade - show attendees do not ) the keyboard gets greasy . Very greasy . I need some anti - herpes wipe .
• The transformation and caps lock keys were working , and they change the entire layout to CAPS ( just as you ’d expect ) . We ’ve drive video recording of this later , but it ’s very crisp and makes it exceedingly promiscuous to enjoin whether or not YOU”VE commence THE SHIFT KEY agree DOWN .
• It ’s super customizable . We did n’t get to see it here , but you may use the utility to change the background , foreground , and make the whole keyboard rainbow - color if you so wish well .
• It ’s super responsive hitting the keys as well — absolutely no difference between this and a veritable keyboard .
• It feels very solidly made , more so than many other keyboard .
• read key out is pretty easy , and it pop right back into plaza .
Is it deserving $ 1500 ? We were n’t trusted before , but after getting manpower - on time with it we ’re definitely be given toward a maybe . And if they can lower the terms by 50 % , then it ’s a yes . It ’s one of those thing that we ’ll save up money for and purchase after a sottish night out .
We also catch to meetArt Lebedev , the guy responsible for the Optimus andmany other designs , and we can totally tell that he ’s on the stratum and a great guy to boot . In case any of you still thought the Optimus Maximus was vaporware , it ’s not .
