Google has process a man for allegedly abusing its serving to trick droves of would - be pet owners into forking over money for non - existent basset hound bounder pup .
On Monday , the great and mighty search engine fileda lawsuitagainst Nche Noel Ntse , of Cameroon , accusing him of violating Google ’s price of service by using its platforms to engage in a vast “ puppy fraudulence ” confederacy .
That scheme , which mostly preyed on elderly people with the false promise of adorable , floppy eared companions , allegedly used a variety of on-line tricks like fake dog sales site with phony tribute and “ alluring picture ” of the ( fake ) andiron . Ntse is alleged to have manipulate his dupe via one - on - one conversation , compelling them to send him money for pups that would never follow .

Propping up the the schema were “ dozens of deceitful Google accounts ” set up with “ Gmail and Google Voice … to pass along false promises to victim , register the fraudulent internet site with U.S. internet host companies , and request and get requital , ” Google writes in the causa . The suit did not name contact information for Ntse , and Gizmodo ’s attempts to reach him for comment were stillborn .
The suit reads , in part :
“ Defendant Nche Noel Ntse has been perpetrating a puppy fraudulence scheme to tap the COVID-19 pandemic for personal profit , while taking advantage of unsuspecting and vulnerable victim . Defendant run multiple non - delivery websites that lead on and defraud net users in the United States . Some of these deceitful websites intent to betray adorable puppy , and victims are tricked into believe the website are lawful because of their alluring pic of purebred pup ( see Figure 1 ) , and compelling testimonials from supposedly satisfied customers . ”

In ablog postpublished Monday , Google ’s Senior Counsel , Mike Trinh , and CyberCrime Investigation Group manager , Albert Shin , revealed further details of the courtship , which seeks to fight back against the scourge of fake dogs and the masses who huckster them .
“ Sadly , this scam disproportionately targeted older Americans , who can be more vulnerable to cyberattacks . The FTC and FBI report that aged masses are scammed out of an approximate $ 650 million per twelvemonth , the duo write , inthe blog post . “ That ’s why we ’re taking proactive action to set a sound precedent , protect victims , disrupt the grifter ’s base , and raise public knowingness . Of course , legal action is just one means we work to combat these character of scam . ”
