When a quarry worker in Oxfordshire , England , noticed some “ strange bumps ” beneath the site ’s clay surface , he could never have dreamt that he was in fact come after in the step of dinosaur . As it happens , the chunky anomalies were made by some of the Middle Jurassic period ’s big beasts – include the ferociousMegalosaurus – and organize one of the most significant compendium ofdinosaur footprintsever discovered .
Experts from the Universities of Oxford and Birmingham finally uncovered around 200 footprint sprawled across the prey floor , make what they describe as a “ dinosaur main road ” made up of five enormous trackways . intend to be around 166 million years old , the prints were leave behind by at least two different dinosaur species at a time when Oxfordshire flanked a tropical sea and was dotted with shallow laguna and mudflats .

The recollective single trackway extend for over 150 meters ( 492 foot ) , and the five set of prints jointly make up the large accumulation of dinosaur racecourse in the UK . Located at Dewars Farm Quarry , the prehistorical highway adds to the already phenomenal aggregation of dinosaur footprints at the land site , where 40 trackways were discovered in 1997 .
