Josh Newell : So me and my friend were derping around when we decided to enter this contest . What we did was have in my mammy ’s Civic and he looked world-weary while I was airdrumming on the dashboard . It was really frigid out of doors when we did this so that is why we only did three return . I used my take up school Cannon Eos REbel XT with a kit lens and an ISO of 100 and a shutter speed of 1/40th with an aperture of 5.6 .

Rob Lennox : I primitively did n’t imagine I was move to be able to participate in this calendar week ’s competition , but I decided to make an ad-lib trip to the Lincoln Park Zoo here in Chicago ( on the namesake ’s birthday , no less ) . I was there to mostly practice a couple film cameras , but came across this tank of fish in the Africa exhibit and thought of this calendar week ’s contest . Putting the DSLR on a small pocket - sized tripod fix on the floor , I took a handful of test shots to get the right amount of motion with the fish , I went and tolerate in front of this wall of Pisces the Fishes , and then I used the wireless remote on a 2 2nd hold . So yeah , a lilliputian bit of a self - portraiture here .

This photo was take on at dusk on my rooftop in Fort Green Brooklyn . I lately began a 10 hebdomad Bok Jinpa meditation class and the theme of motionlessness in this challenge made a existent link for me . We sit in meditation to change the suffering we see in the world . We seat still and silent for the benefit of all live on beings .

Ian Dickmann : This exposure was taken at the Chicago Auto Show . It took a while as some guy stand powerful in front of the gondola texting . He did n’t seem to notice I was standing there trying to take a picture . Life of the farsighted exposure !

I used a Sony a77 , 18 - 250 mm genus Lens . The camera was supported by a board near the Porsche display . It is a 2.5 picture , f/25 , ISO 100 .

Tyler Bedgood : For this weeks shooting challenge I wanted to create all the hustle and bustle I could with movement . After some train shots , some street turning point shot , and some long waits with no avail . I decided to run out into the middle of the route with the subject and desire that neither of us got hit by a car . The following is the resultant of that action . Also , it ’s cold in chicago .

Emily Thompson : My inspiration for this shot came from working in stop - motion vivification . And the fun ( but creepy ? ) idea that the puppet are real little people in there , just brook still while we move them around . I seek to show the topsy-turvydom of animating with my hands all over these cat . They were peachy sport , while I sat in the benighted retaking and tweaking this setup ! I used my Nikon D3000 and a remote . And I believe at this point I had the shutter open for 15 seconds .

Laikmosh : I ve been waiting to do this shot for a long meter , so now i finally come up the need to do it , i was thinking in was nt going to be possible without a gorilla pod or some custom made photographic camera holder to attach to the wheel , but when i inspect my cycle i saw the screw that holds the seat Emily Post was very like to the television camera screw , so i just had to bribe a prison guard that was exactly for the camera , some nuts and bolts to hold the camera still , and it was ready .

I strain the guess right away but only after 1 2d picture it looked all lily-white , i waited until past the afternoon and it started rain , i waited but it did nt block off , it was just minute until the last natural light disapeared into the all yellow color of street lighting , so as idiotic as i might look i had to take an umbrella to protect the photographic camera and drive my bicycle with my umbrella and removed shutter in one mitt , wile going down the street trying different picture time with the shutter , the camera got a little slopped , you’re able to even see some drips on the lens , but in the end i like this shot , its not the best of them all technically speaking ( i got more steady and well focused shots ) , but this is the one that i line up visually superior , it feel more dynamic , looks more adventurous with all the pelting , and has a good mood with those colors .

John Hays : Ah , the comfortably lay plan of mouse and men . Thought I had the ideal idea for this challenge . Just up the road in Tubac was the yearly Festival of the Arts . merchant and artists linning the road and one C of masses walking around to search at what was uncommitted . I got there , got my Canon T2i set up , took the degree Fahrenheit stop to as mellow as it would go , and the ISO down as low-spirited as possible ( 100 ) , focused , and tried a three second exposure . Nothing but white – great deal over exposure , and I have nothing to cut the picture down . If I had my IR filter with me ( get into I knew where it went ) I would have try that to see if it would have work . look it would have . But alas it was not to be . Disappointed I continued to walk around snapping what interested me while I think of how to tackle the challenge . I thought if I could not do it in the day , then I will try the night .

So this evening , I put the cad out , and had my oldest stand by the back door . After a coulpe of test stroke to insure it could exploit , we through down the crumbs of a bag of dog treats by the door and snapped . 3.2 seconds later , and there are the ghostly image of the three dog cleaning the porch by the doorway and my son remain firm watching .

David Olsen : Amanda Reed await in line to ride a ferris bicycle at the Arizona Centennial fete in Downtown Tucson on Friday , February 10 , 2012 , marking 100 years of Arizona statehood .

I used a Canon 7d on a tripod , with a canon EF - S10 10 - 22 millimetre f/3.5 - 4.5 USM lens at focal distance 15 mm , 800 ISO , at 2.5 sec , f/25 . I fritter this with a wide angle crystalline lens at a dispirited angle in parliamentary law to capture the ferris steering wheel and a good percentage of Amanda ’s profile in the same shot . I did encounter lens system flares that bleed into Amanda ’s visibility , so I corrected those in processing .

Michelle Patterson : Waiting for someone to get their whisker done is not the most exciting way to reach time but this hebdomad ’s blast challenge made for a more interesting way to pass the time while my daughter tailor my partner ’s hair’s-breadth on a busy Saturday morning .

This was my first endeavour and submission using my Modern Panasonic FZ150 . I had to put on a polarizing filter and step down the pic by 3 to attain the motion fuzz without overexposure . I used Snapseed on the iPad to achieve the final epitome .

Yuri Polyakov : It ’s a great surprise that you picked this topic . I really care the proficiency , it ’s quite rarefied and absorbing . And I really like this picture . It was a unwritten idea at a very strange event , so this is my good here . It ’s hard to think that I ’ll do any better again if it try and plan this kind of shot .

The story anyway – once a class Israeli Museum in Jerusalem hosts a very strange event . It involves all form of unusual creative person , performers and so on and totally takes by the usual ( boring if you postulate me … ) cold and static museum surround transmute it into a weird and coolheaded party . Yes , night company at a history museum .

I had a voiceless meter with this challenge . We went to several places and I institute that I do not have a steady hand to essay and hand entertain the shot during a retentive picture . Therefore , I want to practice a tripod , unfortunately , the locations that we get going to did not admit them . Then I saw the ice skating skating rink and thought that since it was alfresco , I could utilize it . It was very cold out and this was the last location of the day to try and get the shot . This is the one I come up with , as luck would have it , import before being told to take down my tripod .

Scarlett Moir : I love this quote my John Wooden and it was the first affair I think of when I translate this week ’s challenge . I have often found myself rushing from one thing to the next in life , mistaking this constant stream of activity for advancement towards my goals . I desire to channel that message with my exposure . I create a sign and camp out for half an 60 minutes on a busy street ( in -20C no less ! ) with my sign and my tripod . Later I desaturated the picture in Gimp .
