Mark Rober really know to work up thing . So when this home electronics tinkerer discovered that some neighborhood thieves were rip off Amazon software from his porch , he did what any ego - honour former NASA technologist would do : He build a scintillation bomb made to look like a box - up Apple HomePod , and he ramp up it to capture telecasting of the entire thing .
This was n’t some amateur liaison . Rober spent six months designing and quiz unlike lure package exercise set - ups that include photographic camera and various glitter dispersion methods . He used a 3D - printer , a custom - printed circumference display board , GPS , and four earpiece with cameras . Oh , and fart nebulizer . badly . The wind atomiser is really what puts this affair over the top .
The TV , which is upon YouTube , shows just how Rober pulled it off . And he even lends the machine to supporter who also had packages stolen .

Update 9:50am ET , December 21 : As many await , at least some of the “ thefts ” in the video were faked , Rober has admitted . He has since blue-pencil out the part known to be fake from the video .
