Flavor Flavwas pleasantly surprised to make this superlative.
In an interview withRolling Stonepublished Monday, Dec. 30, the “Fight the Power” singer spoke about being among the celebrities in their 60s featured inPEOPLE’s 2024 Sexiest Man Aliveissue.
When asked if he was surprised to be among “Denzel WashingtonandAndy Garcia” for the Sexy at Every Age list, Flav, 65, said he was indeed shocked.
“It surprised me big because I don’t feel I’m sexy. I was shocked to see it,” he said.

The rapper then recalled a time where a woman called him “ugly” and asked to take a picture with him: “There was a lady that came up to me in the airport and said, ‘Ooh, Flavor Flav. You so ugly, but I want to take a picture with you.’ And you know what I did? I said, ‘OK, come on. Take the picture. Let’s go.'”

Overall, Flav’s mention in the PEOPLE SMA list made him “feel real good inside.”
“I’m like, ‘Wow, how can I be one of the sexiest men alive? You can’t even see my eyes. I got on sunglasses.’ But, hey, I ain’t going to lie. I’ll take it,” he toldRolling Stone.

Perhaps the secret to being part of PEOPLE’s Sexiest Men Alive is smelling good. In October,Flav told PEOPLEhe has been wearing the same cologne for over 50 years.
“Everybody should want to smell fresh from [their] underarms all the way down to [their] toes,” he said at the time.
“When I was a kid, my dad used to always keep Old Spice in the cabinet in the bathroom. So that was the cologne that I used to wear when I used to go to school in the fourth grade.” He’s relied on the brand since.
