This is the first footage of the same XO OLPC doing a three-fold - kicking of Sugar Linux andWindows XP — something doubter have say was n’t go to pass off . Soon , XOs will ship with both Sugar and XP for Boot Camp - style dual - booting options . They will never add up with only XP , though the team is working on sum up more of the Sugar functionality , like the mesh web and the sport sharing apps , to the Windows side . To get both operating systems to prevail , the BIOS has been change to behave more like standard PCs ( rather than Macs or Linux machine ) . The original BIOS for the XO was to begin with believe for AIX and Solaris server , all running variants of UNIX .

In Windows , the screen door fin and directive pad both work OK , and I ’m evidence by Michail Bletsas , OLPC ’s connectivity guru , that the camera is also not a problem , as the driver were available for XP even before they were useable for Linux .
You ’ll note that even rush along up 3X what it in reality took , Windows still seems a little slow to boot . Michail says it accept a slight over a min for Windows to boot on the XO with 2 GB of onboard memory . 2 GB of space is needed for Windows XP , though one gets the imprint it would do a hatful better with 4 GB . The car still have only 256 MB of random-access memory .
And in event you ’re enquire what that red OLPC is doing in the background , weexplained thatlast Friday . [ One laptop computer Per Child ]
