Christie Brinkleyhas reason to celebrate!
The iconic model turned 70 on Friday and the sweet tributes in celebration are already rolling in. Christie’s youngest child, Sailor Brinkley Cook, led the charge with the messages, sharing a video montage onInstagramon Friday morning set to the tune of Candi Staton’s “Young Hearts Run Free.”
The video included several snippets of Christie enjoying life, including clips of her dancing, gardening, eating, spending time with her family and more. It even included a few of her birthday cakes in honor of her new decade.
“HAPPY SEXY 70, MOM!” Sailor, 25, captioned the video. Christie gushed over Sailor’s work, telling her she should move to Hollywood and make these for a living. “I am so appreciative!! It’s so much fun! Like you! I love you so much!” she concluded her reply.
Christie’s eldest daughter, Alexa Ray Joel, 38, whom she shares withBilly Joel, shared a photo and video montage of her own on Instagram later in the day that included tons of sweet moments of her mom. Alexa included some glam moments as well as candid loving shots of the whole family, writing a beautiful caption about her mom, that said, in part, “Happy Birthday To The Ever-Beautiful, Pure, N’ Precious Mother O’ Mine.”
Sports Illustrated Swimsuitalso shared a birthday message for Christie onInstagram. “A little flashback Friday in honor of the iconic @christiebrinkley’s birthday!” the magazine wrote in a caption alongside a video of Christie from decades ago when she shot for the swimwear outlet.
Christie starred on the cover ifSI Swimin 1979, 1980 and 1981, making her the first model to ever be a three-time covergirl. She graced the pages of the magazine a number of times over the years, though, including when she posed with both daughters in 2017.

Photographer Arthur Elgort, who has worked with Christie several times over the years, also shared a carousel of photos from their shoots together onInstagram. He wrote, “Wishing you the happiest of birthdays @christiebrinkley ! 🎉 I have such fond memories from our time together. May your day be as delightful as the moments we shared!”

Christie, who is also mom to son Jack Brinkley Cook, told PEOPLE in a recent interview that she’s welcoming 70 “with a lot of reverence and emotion.”
“I think70 is very similar to 50, in that it’s a time when you look both back and forward,” she shared.
As with turning 50, the “steady march” to 70 has carried a certain weight, she added.
“The big 7-0 is another one of those [ages] that’s up there in giant block numbers that loom over," she said. “At 62, you start thinking, ‘Well, I’malmost70.' It cast a shadow all over that whole decade down.”
But Christie said that rather than let the realization dim her outlook, she thought about how to make the moment “special.”
“Over the last five years, I thought, ‘I’m going to do a big blowout.’ ” However, life got in the way of her party planning. “Every day I’ve been so busy,” she said. “I haven’t really had a second to put a plan in place. And you know what? That’s absolutely fine with me.”
The model is celebrating her birthday with family in Turks & Caicos and has shared numerous photos onInstagram, calling their intimate celebration, “sweet.”
