Surprise!Chrissy Metzis performing at the2019 Academy of Country MusicAwards, marking her first time singing on live television.
The Academy announced that theThis Is Usstar, 38, will sing the song “I’m Standing with You” from her upcoming movieBreakthrough.
“As an actress, you’re not always taken seriously as a singer. You can’t always cross over, whether it’s drama to comedy or an actress to musician,” MetztoldThe Tennessean. “I can’t even believe it’s happening. I really, really can’t. It’s been a gift on top of a gift. It’s one of those bucket list moments you didn’t think would actually happen. Standing on stage with five incredible women who are brilliant vocalists and artists is beyond thrilling.”

OnThis Is Us, Metz portrays aspiring singer Kate Pearson. During the second season, Metz showcased her real singing voice when she sang Fleetwood Mac’s 1975 classic“Landslide”in episode two.
Metz, whoearned an Emmy nominationfor her role, previously told PEOPLE how much she loves combining acting and singing on the show.
“[Creator] Dan [Fogelman] is writing my dream life. I enjoy singing very much,” shesaid in September 2017.
Metz joins an already star-studded list of ACM performers that includesKeith Urban,Blake Shelton,Kelly Clarkson,Maren Morris,Thomas Rhett, Florida Georgia Line, Dan + Shay, Little Big Town,Dierks Bentley,Brothers Osborne, Kane Brown, Brandi Carlile, Eric Church, Khalid, LANCO,Ashley McBryde,Chris Stapleton,Luke BryanandOld Dominion.
This year marks McEntire’s 16th time hosting the ceremony in total, and the few years she took off between 2013 and 2017 saw stars like Bryan, Shelton and Bentley fill her shoes. Over the years, McEntire has hosted on her own and with co-hosts including Shelton, Strait,Alan Jacksonand Hank Williams Jr., among others.
The 2019 ACM Awards will broadcast live from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, April 7 at 8:00 p.m. ET on CBS.
