State Farm has stopped accepting new applications for home and business indemnity in California this month due to wildfire risk and rising costs , the company announcedon Friday .
In an official statement on its web site , the indemnity company submit that the determination was made because of rising construction costs that are outpacing inflation , a challenging indemnity marketplace , and “ speedily grow catastrophe exposure . ”
“ We take seriously our obligation to carry off danger . We recognize the Governor ’s administration , legislators , and the California Department of Insurance ( CDI ) for their wildfire personnel casualty extenuation effort , ” the program line say . “ However , it ’s necessary to take these actions now to improve the society ’s fiscal strength .
