Cybercriminals claim to have stolen blueprints for some of Apple ’s new product and are now attempting to extort the tech heavyweight by threatening to issue the document online .
On Tuesday , the ransomware crew REvil publicly claimed that it had hack Quanta Computer , a third - political party provider in Taiwan that has partnership with over a dozen enceinte U.S. tech firms , including Apple , Dell , Hewlett - Packard , Blackberry , and several others .
Quanta , which is one of the big laptop computer manufacturer in the world , work to assemble Apple ’s products based on designs provide by the Cupertino company , meaning there is a logical basis for the theft claim .
